Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
The University of Illinois’ VITA program offers FREE tax assistance to low- to moderate-income (gross income less than $64,000), older adults (over age 60), limited English speaking taxpayers, and persons with disabilities. It is our privilege to help residents in need prepare their tax returns.
The program is available, typically, from early February through early April (or until the program is at capacity). Check the VITA at Gies blog for updates on dates and times the VITA program is open.
We are no longer able to prepare Illinois tax returns for non-resident alien taxpayers.

You can help with the VITA program! Community members are needed to volunteer weekly during the tax season.
If you are an accounting student at Gies, learn how you can become a tax preparer or tax reviewer with the VITA program.
